The Access to Seeds Index is maintained by the Access to Seeds Foundation, an independent, not-for-profit organization based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The Regional Index for Eastern Africa was developed in partnership with Cardno Emerging Markets, based in Nairobi, Kenya.
A team of advisors with relevant expertise supports the Access to Seeds Foundation.
Robust, active governance is critical to ensure the impartiality, independence and multi-stakeholder character of the Access to Seeds Foundation. The Foundation’s governance processes are guided by several documents that have been approved by the Supervisory Board.
The plan and policy for 2012 and 2013 describe the development of the methodology of the Access to Seeds Index (phase 2 and 3) and the conclusions of the feasibility study in phase 1. The 2014 road map outlines the Foundation’s plans in the lead-up to the publication of the first Index.
The Annual Report 2014 contains an overview and explanation of the Access to Seeds Foundation’s financial figures for the accounting period ending 31 December 2014. The Annual Report 2012 and 2013 both provide a short description of activities in these respective years.
