Who is behind the Access to Seeds Index

The Access to Seeds Index is produced and published by the Access to Seeds Foundation, part of the World Benchmarking Alliance.

Access to Seeds Foundation

The Access to Seeds Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Its activities are overseen by an international supervisory board. Multi-stakeholder expert committees review and approve the index methodology. Financial support is provided by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and AgriCord. The European Union identified the index as one of the key contributions by member states to the sustainable development agenda.

World Benchmarking Alliance

The World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) was established to develop corporate sustainability benchmarks that rank companies on their contribution to achieving the SDGs and encourage a race to the top. The WBA was founded by Aviva, the United Nations Foundation, Index Initiative and the Business & Sustainable Development Commission. The WBA is supported by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
