Anke van Bruggen started her working life as a teacher on primary and secondary schools. After that she switched careers. Since then she worked for more then 15 years as a communication expert with non-profit organizations like Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and Natuurmonumenten, a Dutch conservation organization. Recently at Vogelbescherming Nederland (partner of BirdLife International) she was responsible for the communication of the project Living on the Edge, an international project aimed at encouraging sustainable land use in the Sahel which benefits both people and birds. Anke was born and raised on the island of Texel and started her academic career with religious studies at the University of Groningen.
